About the Building

When Chard first approached the team at MCMP Architects to design Escher, it was with a clear vision: to design a building that would push the boundaries of modern architecture in Victoria and redefine what owners have come to expect from a new downtown home.

Drawing on Chard’s long history working with both owners and the city itself, MCMP produced a building as modern and dynamic as it is welcoming.

At 10 storeys and 84 suites, Escher’s bold lines and eye-catching mix of charcoal brick, metal, and high-efficiency low E windows are balanced by composite panelling and a grand but inviting two-story entrance. The effect is metropolitan, sophisticated, yet notably approachable—a striking portrait of the city which surrounds it.

Building Features

All residents have access to the Signature Chard rooftop terrace, with landscaping design by LADR and complete with lounge, kitchen and BBQ areas, washroom and views overlooking downtown, Fairfield and the Olympic Peninsula in the distance.
Escher's modern exterior incorporates charcoal brick and composite panels overtop strong steel and concrete construction.
An inviting double-height entrance leads to a spacious lobby with custom artwork, feature lighting and lounge seating.
The building's landscaping, both public and private, has been designed by Victoria's LADR Landscape Architects. The building entrance comes with lush plantings, modern outdoor seating and plenty of visitor bike storage.
The terrace suites on floors 2, 5, and 9 offer spacious outside areas, extending each suite's living space by as much as 450 sq ft.
Escher’s underground parking is safe and secure and comes complete with electric car-charging stations, scooter storage and a dog-washing station.
On the ground level, residents can use a shared FOB-access bicycle storage with a spot for every suite and a shared maintenance bench. There’s also an additional storage locker for every unit in the building.
Escher's visitor security cameras, located at the main lobby and secure visitor parking entrance, can be accessed by residents from any computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
Every exterior room at Escher has at least one opening window for natural ventilation, and all windows are made with high-efficiency low E glazing, maximizing fresh air and comfort in the summer and reducing energy costs in the winter.
